Defending world champion Lewis Hamilton took pole position for the Bahrain Grand Prix with breaking lap record to edge out his team-mate Nico Rosberg.
The Brit clocked 1:29.493, seven hundredths of a second faster than championship leader Rosberg.
Ferrari booked second row of the grid, but both Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen were half a second slower than the Mercedes.

The knockout qualifying format again produced a dearth of on-track action. The format will be reviewed on Sunday in a meeting between the FIA – the sport’s governing body – commercial chief Bernie Ecclestone, team principals and tire supplier Pirelli.
