The latest news about the health of seven-time Formula One World Champion Michael Schumacher is not good, his former Ferrari boss Luca di Montezemolo told Reuters on Thursday.
The German is still receiving intensive treatment far from the public eye at his home in Switzerland following severe head injuries that he suffered in a skiing accident in France in December 2013.
“I have news and unfortunately it is not good,” Montezemolo told reporters without giving any further details.
“Life is strange. He was a fantastic driver and only had one accident with Ferrari in 1999”, the former Ferrari chairman said.
Recently the German magazine Bunte claimed that, Schumi was walking again and published the news in a front page of magazine.
The report featured a comment from an unnamed friend of Schumacher’s, who said: “Michael is very thin. But he can once again walk a little with the help of his therapists.
“He manages to make a couple of steps. And he can also raise an arm.”
But Sabine Kehm, Schumacher’s manager, has denied the reports.
“Unfortunately, we are forced by a recent press report to clarify that the assertion that Michael could move again is not true. Kehm said
“Such speculation is irresponsible, because given the seriousness of his injuries, his privacy is very important for Michael. Unfortunately they also give false hopes to many involved people.”
