Manor F1 Team has confirmed that their Mercedes powered 2016 F1 car passed the FIA’s final crash tests ahead of pre-season testing in February.
Manor confirmed the news via Twitter “Our next instalment: today we completed our final crash test, so we now have a fully homologated chassis,”
“Next stop: test 1 in Barcelona.”
Manor the only team have yet to announce their driver line-up for the 2016 F1 season. Rio Haryanto, Pascal Wehrlein and Alexander Rossi are on top in 2016 drivers line-up short-list.
Earlier on Friday Manor confirmed Nikolas Tombazis as its new Chief Aerodynamicist, after nine years with the fabled Maranello team, the Greek engineer was ousted amid Ferrari’s wide-ranging team shakeup at the end of 2014.
Also a prominent former McLaren designer, the 47-year-old has now signed up with the newly Mercedes-powered backmarker Manor for 2016.
