Rosberg wins season-ending Abu Dhabi GP

Nico Rosberg wins from world champion Lewis Hamilton; Third successive win for the German; Hamilton had closed to within a second of Rosberg mid-race before running long on his second stint.

Silver Arrows speedy Rosberg, who started on pole, took the chequered flag with a perfect drive to make it three race victories in a row and six for 2015.

Lewis Hamilton also claimed the F-LAP of the race on lap 44. Kimi Raikkonen was third ahead Ferrari team-mate Sebastian Vettel.

Force India of Sergio Perez with Daniel Ricciardo sixth for Red Bull in the day-night race.

Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg was seventh, Williams driver Felipe Massa eighth and Lotus’ Romain Grosjean ninth. Daniil Kvyat completed the top 10 for Red Bull.

Sky Sports, asked — Why didn’t Hamilton get supersofts for the final stint? Niki Lauda explains:
