I answered my own question. JB ran an older spec engine at the end of it’s life today while Alonso had an upgraded one in his car.

Hears to hoping for a non-merc front row lock out! We can wish…

Watching the McHondas. Alonso 3-4/10ths up on JB on the yellows [they are usually just 100ths apart] but nearly a second up on the reds. Very, very odd. Does Jens have a problem? No silly answers like ‘Alonso is a genius’ or any of that crap – the stats don’t bear it out. They have been close all year unless one of them had car issues.
