Toro Rosso team principal Franz Tost has said that a potential takeover deal of Toro Rosso involving Renault has stalled.
Also he admits that, a potential deal that would have seen Renault buy the F1 team appears to have ended following a breakdown in discussions.
Renault, and sister team of Red Bull, had been in talks with their current engine supplier over a potential takeover, a deal Tost was keen to push ahead.
Renault had reportedly been keen to increase their presence in Formula One after cutting back their involvement to engine provider in recent years.
However, Tost has revealed a deal now looks unlikely.
“I can only say what has happened in the last months in connection with Renault and Toro Rosso,” he told the official F1 website.
“Yes, they have visited us in Faenza and Bicester but in the last weeks it has been quiet, so I assume that they have decided to buy another team.
“How that would influence Toro Rosso we have to see. We have to wait for Renault’s move and announcement.
“Then we have to discuss a programme that fits the requests and needs of Toro Rosso.”
