Mick Schumacher wins Formula 4 debut race
Mick Schumacher, the son of seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher, has won (his single-seater first appearance) a Formula 4 race for the first time.

Junior Schumi, competing in only his third race, claimed victory over the 18 laps at the Oschersleben track, between Hannover and Berlin in Germany.

“Of course, I’m pleased that I caught up,” he said, “it didn’t occur to me at first that I was best rookie! After yesterday’s qualifying and my grid position, I’m really satisfied.”

“I’m ecstatic, of course!” said Schumacher.

“My first race weekend could not have gone better! We had a good start, because my tyres were still fresh, and it went well from then on, apart from at the end where things were close again. I was not too unhappy about the safety car.

“All in all, I’m really pleased with this start to the season and look forward to the next set of races.”

He is racing for the Dutch Van Amersfoort Racing team in Europe’s ADAC Formula 4.
