Button sets personal best in first London Marathon

Formula 1 ace, Jenson Button has completed the London Marathon in a personal best time.

Double Olympic champion James Cracknell has beaten F1 driver Jenson Button in this year’s London Marathon Face Race clocking an impressive time of 2:50:43.

“It’s an amazing day,” he told BBC presenter Gabby Logan at the finish line. “So many people all around. It shows our nation off to its best.”

The former rower just pipped Button to the finish as the Formula 1 driver crossed the line in 2:52:30, well inside his sub three-hour target.

“The most amazing thing is, I’ve done quite a bit of training but there are so many people in front of me,” he laughed. “People have put in so much effort and it’s actually quite emotional. It was really cool.”

Button’s wife Jessica also took part in the marathon, as did Marussia boss Graeme Lowdon. Neither had finished at the time of publication.
