The first Bahrain pole: I feel great, I feel very happy – Hamilton

Defending champion Lewis Hamilton will start the Bahrain Grand Prix from pole position for the first time after clinching his fourth straight pole of the season on Saturday, well ahead of Sebastian Vettel.

“I feel great, I feel very happy. Coming into the weekend the target was to really master the track and get the car into a position that I am really comfortable with and that is how the weekend has gone,” Hamilton said following the session.

“The laps were pretty good, you can always improve, but I am really grateful to have this beast underneath me with which I can attack these corners. I think last year I wasn’t as comfortable with the car to be able to do so.”

Is Hamilton worried about Vettel tomorrow?

“They are very quick this weekend and are going to be tough to beat tomorrow,” says the world champion. “They have great race pace and hopefully with our positioning that does help. We will be taking all measures we can to make the tyres go as far as they do. But I think we are in a good position so looking forward to the fight.”
