Lewis Hamilton takes pole position for the Bahrain grand prix. Team-mate Nico Rosberg cannot beat the Ferrari man Sebastian Vettel and has to settle for second.
Hamilton took top spot by 0.411s from Sebastian Vettel, and 0.558s ahead of his team-mate Rosberg. Lewis Hamilton’s first pole position for Bahrain GP.
“Terrible day for Rosberg, he has been thumped by his team-mate, beaten by one Ferrari and nearly beaten by the other,” says Martin Brundle.
Vettel’s teammate Kimi Raikkonen completes the second row, ahead of the Williams cars of Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa.
Nico Hulkenberg’s effort means that Force India set eighth on the grid and they are in Q3 for the first time since 2014 Italian GP, both Sabers’ are out, along with Sergio Perez, Fernando Alonso and Max Verstappen.
Q1 OUT – Pastor Maldonado and Daniil Kvyat out
Lotus speedy Pastor Maldonado has looked good all weekend but he has but found himself eliminated in Q1.
Also, Red Bull’s Daniil Kvyat, who spun in FP3 earlier and on the whole hasn’t looked on it this weekend.
