Sebastian Vettel attained his and Ferrari’s first win since 2013 on Sunday, as a superb strategic drive for his new team helped him beat pre-race favourites Mercedes in the 2015 Formula 1 Malaysia Grand Prix.
An emotional win for Vettel, but an exciting one for the rest of us in terms of the championship battle, which continues in China on 12 April.
Pole sitter Lewis Hamilton and his teammate Nico Rosberg was third from Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen, who fought back from an early puncture.
“We welcome the fight,” says Lewis Hamilton. “It is great to have a battle with the Ferraris.”
“Huge congratulations to Ferrari and Sebastian – I gave it everything I could but their pace was excellent. We knew that Ferrari had made a step but didn’t know how big – they were too quick today.”
