Fernando Alonso has been declared fit to return to the cockpit of his McLaren-Honda this weekend.
The Spaniard had already been given the green light prior to travelling to Malaysia this week by a panel of FIA-nominated doctors at Cambridge university.
But he also had to satisfy FIA medical delegate Jean-Charles Piette on Thursday, as well as Sepang’s resident doctor.
“In accordance with normal procedures, McLaren-Honda driver Fernando Alonso was this morning examined by the FIA medical delegate and chief medical officer at the Sepang Circuit Medical Centre,” said the FIA in a statement.
“During the examination the driver passed all mandatory fitness tests and has thus been declared fit to race in this weekend’s Malaysian Grand Prix.”
McLaren confirmed the news that its star driver Alonso is “fit to race”. (GMM/ThisisF1)
