Hamilton becomes double-time F1 world champion

Lewis Hamilton has been crowned Formula 1 World Champion for the second time after winning today’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The Brit beats Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg to the title by 67 points after the German finished 14th at the Yas Marina Circuit.

Rosberg began to suffer from ERS problems early on and spent the race struggling to remain in touch. He eventually dropped out of the points and was lapped by his team-mate.

Hamilton meanwhile snatched the lead at the start and never looked back. He appeared to back off mid-race to cover Rosberg, but then upped his pace and held on to win from a fast-charging Felipe Massa. Daniel Ricciardo was third for Red Bull, despite starting from the pit-lane.
