Nico Rosberg has clocked the top time in the opening practice of the day at Spa Francorchamps ahead of this Belgian Grand Prix.
The session took place in cool and dry conditions at Spa on Friday morning, as the drivers got their first chance to try out the 2014-spec cars at one of the sport’s most well-known circuits.
The German set a fastest lap time of 1:51.577 to finish less than one-tenth of a second clear of his teammate and title rival Lewis Hamilton.
The Spaniard Fernando Alonso managed third on the time-sheet at Spa, team-mate Kimi Raikkonen – four times a winner at Spa – fifth overall despite his Ferrari suffering an overheating ERS system.
Even as Jenson Button of McLaren took fourth and Red Bull drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Sebastian Vettel finished ninth and 11th quickest in that order.
