Nico Rosberg expressed that Silverstone qualifying was definitely quite crazy, the German also very pleased with securing his fourth pole position in unreliable wet conditions at Silverstone.
The championship leader, improved his time in final run, but nearest title rival Lewis Hamilton backed off on his final attempt and slipped from pole position to sixth.
“It was definitely quite crazy – certainly in first qualifying it was and last qualifying also.
“The tyres were still drying out so we lost time on the out lap. We sat in the garage and eventually came to the conclusion that we might as well go out and have a look.
“Then it seemed like it was worth it because the last part of the lap was very dry. It was a great team effort.”
“I knew that I’d lost four seconds on the previous lap so even if I was slower than that lap I would still have chance of going a lot quicker in those last three corners if it was half way as dry and that’s the way it turned out. I made the time because it was a lot dryer in the last three corners.”
