Colin Kolles bringing Albers as new Caterham boss

Colin Kolles replace Cyril Abiteboul at Caterham F1
The former team principal and managing director of the Hispania Racing F1 Team, previously holding a similar position at the team known under the names Jordan, Midland, Spyker and Force India from 2005 to 2008.

Earlier, we reported that Colin Kolles, the former Force India and HRT chief, is set to replace the Renault-bound Cyril Abiteboul at Caterham as the struggling backmarker team changes hands.

But Germany’s Sport Bild on Wednesday reports that an interesting character is coming with Kolles — former Minardi driver and Dutchman Christijan Albers.

Albers, now 35, raced under Kolles’ leadership at the pre-Force India team guises of Midland and Spyker.

Albers has also driven for Kolles in DTM and, most recently, in sports cars.

But he is not making an F1 driving comeback. Correspondent Bianca Garloff claims Albers will in fact be a boss of the Caterham team.

The Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf has the same story on Wednesday, claiming Albers will be Caterham’s F1 chief executive.

It will be announced, the report said, in the “coming days”, with Albers having already visited Caterham’s Leafield factory on Tuesday.

Caterham has not commented. (GMM/ThisisF1)
