Nico Rosberg made fastest lap ahead of his team-mate Lewis Hamilton and local hero Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso. Early stage of the session Mercedes reported that, Lewis Hamilton little bit struggling with steering wheel trouble (Team Radio – Hamilton: “Steering’s not straight.”).
The German was taken pole in Spanish GP last year and expecting he repeat the single lap performance and it’s the best opportunity of defending his four-point go ahead over team-mate and hat-trick winner Lewis Hamilton at the top of the drivers’ standings.
BBC F1 analyst Allan McNish says “The Mercedes driver are a big step ahead of everyone. Then you’ve got the Red Bulls and probably Fernando Alonso in the Ferrari, followed by the two Williams. I’m not sure about the Lotus performance, though. The battle to get into Q3 will be very tight.”
The Spaniard Fernando Alonso finished with third quickest almost 1.3s behind fastest man Rosberg and ahead of Felipe Massa.
Lotus making improvement and their speedy Romain Grosjean was fifth quickest ahead of McLaren rookie Kevin Magnussen, Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo and McLaren’s higher Jenson Button.
The Venezuelan ace Pastor Maldonado done ninth fastest for Lotus and defending world champion Sebastian Vettel complete the top 10 in final practice session. Despite German was lost on Friday practice due to electrical problem.
