Finally the recent speculation ended, Formula One Teams’ Association (FOTA) has been disbanded.
FOTA Association was organized in the summer of 2008 season, when the team defended their interests in dealing with Formula 1 governing body FIA, President Max Mosley, who proposed a radical restructuring of Formula 1.
At the proposal of the team leaders met Ferrari in Maranello, became the first president of FOTA Luca di Montezemolo, but when the goal was achieved, Mosley resigned; Ferrari has left one of the first association.
After that, every year there was talk that the days are numbered Association – members drop off, and today in history FOTA set point.
Oliver Weingarten, FOTA’s secretary general, said in a brief statement on the official website of the association: “I can confirm that FOTA has been disbanded, as a result of its members having re-evaluated their requirements in the face of a changing political and commercial landscape in Formula 1.”
