Felipe Massa revealed that he made his preliminary contact with Williams for the 2014 Formula 1 season in the greatest secrecy, not even leaving his manager Nicolas Todt in confidence.
Nicolas Todt is mainly concerned with the Brazilian driver careers as well as those of Pastor Maldonado (Williams toggled to Lotus this winter) and Jules Bianchi (renewed this year with Marussia).
This is at the request of Williams; Massa did not involve his manager in discussions to his arrival in the team.
The relationship between Williams and Maldonado is not looking good, and result in significant changes from a commercial point of view for the team (due to sponsorship deal with PDVSA and the Office of National Tourism Venezuela ) the team felt it was more appropriate not to place Todt in the loop.
“Williams preferred to talk directly with me because Nicolas is already dealing with the departure of Maldonado, who did not wish to continue,” said Massa Totalrace.
“I started talking about myself from the race in Japan and we quickly agreed. But everything depended from Pastor and so it took a while. ”
