Esteban Gutierrez from today rolled back on track for Sauber. The young Mexican competitor in the second test day of Bahrain test successively completed 55 laps, equivalent to nearly 300 km.
It was great to sit back and another car kilometre important to do it. These winter tests are more important than ever, as the new package is very complex, and reliability is paramount.
Overall, the morning was fine and we were able to take the car relatively a lot of laps, while studied aerodynamics. There are many important things, I understood but still a lot of work ahead of us. The engine and electronics are particularly complex and we still do not know much about these things, but all the other teams in the same boat. The only frustration an electrical problem meant that we lost some time due later in the day.
Slowly we begin to deal with the details, which will provide new challenges. This is important because the car handling. We will have to bring out the most of it, but reliability is even more important than that. Now we are working on this team.
