Lewis Hamilton says that, lots of mileage competence will come from Mercedes, following another optimistic running on the first day of second pre-season testing at Bahrain. Even though he admits that there were small issues still with W05.
The Brit successively completed 74 laps without any major issues, following the day of running, teams reveals that, W05 had a small issue with the brakes at the end session.
Mercedes successively finished the most mileage of any team in the opening pre-season test at Jerez last month, they are earned 309 laps in all four day test, more than 58 laps(an average a race distance) ahead of nearest rival Ferrari.
“It’s been impressive to see us start the Bahrain test with good mileage and reliability, especially when you see how difficult it is for everyone with the new regulations.” Hamilton said.
“The team can be very proud of this after so much hard work. Today was another good test of the car to see if any issues came up –we had a small issue with the brakes at the end but were still able to achieve a lot of laps today.”
“We’re not aiming to be top of the timesheets at the moment, it’s more about ticking the reliability boxes, but we can be happy with where we are before the halfway point of the pre-season tests.”
Six teams covered over 60 laps each on today testing, Red Bull, Toro Rosso, Lotus, Williams and Marussia all failed to get above 15.
