Haug: Mercedes ends the Red Bull era

F1 Testing in Jerez - Day FourNorbert Haug who was lead from 1990-2012 as head of Mercedes-Benz motorsport, Following after a year leaving Haug believes that the Brackley-based outfit take the lead in the upcoming Formula 1 season – and thereby end the four-year-long winning streak of Red Bull Racing and Sebastian Vettel.

The Silver Arrows is ready to enter its fifth season since returning to F1 as a works team and Haug, making reference to Red Bull’s steady progress, says it is still on-track to reach its targets. Also the team successively completed four day pre-season test at Jerez without any troble.

“It would not surprise me if the title goes to Stuttgart [Mercedes-Benz’s headquarters] this year. This was the plan from the outset,” Haug told SID.

“The Mercedes works team is now in its fifth year. It took Red Bull five years to claim its first victory.”

The Silver Arrows finished second to Red Bull in the 2013 team standings, took nine top podiums with three victories.
