Mercedes belives that, the engine builders are able to build up the engine in tandem with the chassis has given its team an advantage this year like Ferrari or Mercedes.
Following the introduction of the new V6 turbo, the question may arise and Mercedes, it is said to have some benefit to be gained from this.
Andy Cowell, head of department at Mercedes engine, the design makes its own engine provides a net benefit compared to client teams.
“The power unit is designed Mercedes closely with the Technical Director [Mercedes- Benz] Bob Bell,” he explains.
“Every nut, bolt each, each ring and each cable is designed around the car. This gives us an advantage. ”
The technical director of Mercedes F1 team, Paddy Lowe shared this viewpoint, explaining that the close working between the chassis and engine allows departments to better adapt the package of the new W05.
In 2014, one of the priorities of the teams concerns the cooling with the new power units. Able to work both on its own engine and its integration in the car could therefore provide a significant advantage to Mercedes.
