“I think Schumacher won in his fifth year with his Ferrari; I am in (my) fifth year (with Ferrari) now so hopefully I can repeat some of the success he had,” the Spaniard told Ferrari official website after launching.

The Spaniard, world champion with Renault in 2005 and 2006, has finished second for Ferrari to Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel in three of the last four years.

“Obviously over the last four years with have had some opportunities and in 2010 and 2012 we were very, very close to winning the [Drivers’] championship. This year we will try again and hopefully it will be a good one.” he added.

“I think Kimi and me as a team should be quite strong on paper because we have had some successes in the past in our F1 careers. But you need to discover things every year. You start from zero.

“If we do well we will have a very strong team and we will deliver some strong results for Ferrari. If we don’t do a good enough job, some other teams will have a better pairing. It is up to us to deliver and to do a good job,”.

Alonso said about the new rules and chances: “Definitely, I think, in 2014 F1 will change a lot with the new regulations. That will also have some implications on the driving styles. I am looking forward to discovering all about this,” he done.
