Kobayashi set for a return to 2014 F1 with Caterham

Kobayashi set for a return to 2014 F1 with CaterhamSome sources revealed that, Kamui Kobayashi set to return to Formula 1 next season with Caterham. The Finnish media Turun Sanomat has reported that Kobayashi has now been spotted at Caterham’s factory and may well move ahead of van der Garde and Pic in the line up for next year race seat.

Also the Caterham planned to recruit racing Rookie Marcue Ericsson to take one of the seats for 2014, and they are looking for a more experienced driver to finish their line-up.

Heikki Kovalainen has been in the frame for months, and until recently was under contract to the team, but as is well known he does not have any sponsorship.

As well more importantly unlike Kovalainen, he has significant sponsorship. Sources told adamcooper’s blog that he has a budget of €6m.

And the source added that, if confirmed Kobayashi’s return will be well received by both Bernie Ecclestone and Honda, owners of Suzuka, as it will be a major boost for the Japanese GP.

Ex Force India speedy Paul di Resta also has the same problem, and is presently without a drive for the 2014 season. Tony Fernandes and the team’s other shareholders are reportedly reluctant to put more money into the team, and Kobayashi would fit the bill.
