Esteban Gutierrez has done it; he will remain at Sauber for 2014 F1 season. The Mexican will run alongside with new team-mate Adrian Sutil.
Sauber’s original three-year Mexican sponsorship deals ended this season, and while Gutierrez could offer continued support from his backers, it was understood that team principal Monisha Kaltenborn was not keen to continue the arrangement.
In recent days, it seemed that the 22-year old Mexican had no more chance with the Swiss team at the point of trying to Caterham room. Come out even the idea of an “exchange” with Van der Garde.
In the end, however, prevailed sponsors Gutiérrez, which can lead to over 15 million secured by 10 Sutil.
