On 11 September 2013, it was confirmed that Kimi Raikkonen had agreed a 2-year deal to return to Ferrari, starting from 2014. He revealed that it was for monetary reasons that he left Lotus.
“This year I suppose I have to call Kimi the star driver, with the equipment he had,” Ecclestone said about the Finn speedy.
“I think he was motivated on hope that he was going to get paid. He’s a good guy to have in a team, good for us, good for the team. He’s super, he’s a racer.”
