Force India to overcome any potential disadvantages with new Pirelli

295_d1v73zn63zVijay Mallya, the Force India F1 team principal is very confident that his squad will overcome any potential disadvantages with new Pirelli.

The Silverstone squad still fifth in constructors’ championship, Vijay Mallya has admitted that Force India has struggled after tyre modification since the British Grand Prix.

But currently Force India hopeful that they will boost their performance in upcoming races at Belgium and Italy.

“We invested in understanding tyres, which hopefully is going to overcome any potential disadvantages,” he told Autosport.

“The [old] tyres did us no favours, we just understood the tyres better. When we realised how big a role the tyres would play, we hired one of the best tyre engineers from Bridgestone and supplemented him with one more [later].”

“There has to be consistency, change adds a lot of cost and additional work in understanding the tyres, redesign etc.” he added.

“I’m not suggesting what happened, with tyres delaminating, is the best scene for F1 but having said that, everybody has a level playing field.”
