Horner: Webber would have done the same as Vettel

Red-Bull-first_2919748Red Bull Racing team Principal Christian Horner says that Mark Webber would have done the same as Sebastian Vettel if the condition was wrong way up throughout the final stint of last weekend’s Malaysian GP.

The Australian led the race following the final pit stops and team ordered hold position to the end of the race but the German passed Webber on the lap 46 following an intense battle. Though, Horner says the German’s actions would have been mirrored by ‘any competitive driver’ and he added main title contenders Lewis Hamilton or Fernando Alonso would have done the same as Vettel.

“If Fernando Alonso or Lewis Hamilton had been in that position, they’d have done the same,” Horner told Sky Sports.

“If Mark Webber had been in that position, we’ve seen him do the same. Let’s not kid ourselves that this is something unique to Sebastian, this is something that is in any competitive driver’s DNA.”

Also recently reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel has say sorry to Red Bull staff for ignoring team orders in a controversial Malaysian Grand Prix. Recently Horner explained

“Sebastian is a very honest guy,” Horner commented.

“I think he was shocked after the race. Then the feeling came over him, you could see that he felt he had done wrong. I believe his apology was sincere. He repeated that apology in private.”
