Red Bull reappears to the top of the opening practice time-sheet for 2013 Malaysian Grand Prix. Mark Webber took top fastest lap-time with medium compound he was slightly faster than Australian Grand Prix winner Kimi Raikkonen with his team-mate Sebastian Vettel third fastest.
Opening race winner Kimi not take part Friday morning until first hour, as Lotus has changed his troubled KERS battery.
Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso set fourth fastest ahead of Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg and Adrian Sutil. Despite Force India guy having to pit for maintenance following damaging wing on a kerb.
The Brazilian Felipe Massa and Force India’s Paul di Resta set seventh and eighth fastest lap-time respectively. Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton took ninth quickest ahead of Lotus’ Romain Grosjean.
The first session of opening practice most drivers’ stayed in the pits for track conditions to improve, long runs pointed significant speed and drop-off as tyres wore, Lewis Hamilton in particular complaining of his tyre being “destroyed”.
