Raikkonen: Well planned and easy took Melbourne victory

Kimi Raikkonen pleased with season opening race victory for Australian Grand Prix. But he not claimed any opportunity to fighting for the world title in this season.

Kimi start from the seventh on the grid and he beat Fernando Alonso to victory significant margin by 12.4s and reigning World Champion Sebastian Vettel.

The iceman very confident with Pirelli new compounds behavior with Lotus, and he claims that Lotus had a good car all of the weekend; finally the Finn took top podium with Lotus’ two-stop strategy.

“That was our plan before the race,” Räikkönen said about their two-stop strategy.

“I was pretty confident the tyres would be okay and we have had a good car all weekend. I thought it should be easy to do it. I made a good start and it all went well.

“It was one of the easiest races I have done to win. Hopefully we can have many more of these races. The car has been very good all weekend and it was a pretty nice way to start the year.”

“It feels good, but it’s only after one race,” Räikkönen added, having picked up his secnd win since returning. The Finn added.

“It doesn’t really change our game or work for this year. We’re happy with the win, but there’s a lot still to do to try to win the championship.”
