Paddy Lowe continue with McLaren for 2013

McLaren’s Paddy Lowe and Martin Whitmarsh

Vodafone McLaren Mercedes technical director Paddy Lowe will stay with McLaren for 2013 F1 season. But still not confirm his future career.

Paddy Lowe joined with McLaren in 1993 and strongly linked with a move to Mercedes as part of the German team management reform.

Throughout the McLaren 2013 F1 car launch, team Principal Martin Whitmarsh says Paddy Lowe will be part of the team.

“One certainty is that Paddy will be part of the team for another year, it’s less certain beyond that. That is something that we will have some certainty on in the near future.” Whitmarsh said

Reporters asked regarding Lowe’s nonappearance from the launch event, Whitmarsh said his technical chief had chosen to stay away given the media coverage of his future.

“Clearly there is a lot of media interest and I think it is good that Paddy concentrates on doing his job,” Whitmarsh added.

“I don’t think he wants to create embarrassment to his team or his colleagues, so on his own election he felt it not appropriate to be here.”
