Ferrari picks Pedro de la Rosa for development role

Ferrari signed with Pedro de la Rosa for a development driver role for the 2013 Formula 1 season. The Spanish F1 veteran has treasures of skill having driven for Arrows, Jaguar, McLaren, Sauber and HRT. He did various roles with different outfit during the 1999 – 2012.

Ferrari team principal speaking during their annual Wrooom event, the Italian F1 outfit confirmed that De la Rosa would do simulator work alongside with race and reserve drivers.

“We decided to add De la Rosa to our group of drivers mainly to strengthen one area, namely work in the simulator, which with the current regulations regarding testing, is becoming ever more important,” said Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali.

The Spaniard was left on the marginal at the end of last year when HRT was forced to decide exit from the sport due to financial trouble. De la Rosa best result in the sport came at the 2006 Hungarian GP, where he finished final place on the podium.
