The Finnish newspaper Turun Sanomat claims that Vitaly Petrov is set to stay in Caterham for the 2013 F1 season.
Last November Caterham has signed a new multi-year deal with Charles Pic, remaining position for one driver in the team and Petrov is looking ahead to continue for the 2013 F1 season.
According to Turun Sanomat it was because the backmarker outfit was still considering “all options.”
Finnish newspaper reports that Caterham’s second seat will go to Petrov but that the contract will not be completed until the “required sponsorship money has been paid into the team’s account.”
“All the necessary work on our part is done — and it’s for Caterham to decide, “I believe Vitaly’s race in Brazil securing tenth place in the manufacturers’ championship helps us to stay where we were,” last month Petrov’s manager, Oksana Kosachenko told Turun Sanomat.
