Mercedes appoints new F1 engine chief

Andy Cowell will replace Thomas Fuhr as head of Mercedes’ Formula 1 engine arm from the start of 2013.

Thomas Fuhr worked as director of Mercedes High Performance Powertrains since 2009, and move away from motor racing to focus on other areas. His departure has left an empty hole in the department responsible for the development of the Mercedes Formula 1.

So, your position will be soon occupied by Andy Cowell, who until now was the group’s director of engineering, responsible for the current Formula 1 engine Mercedes and 2014, in addition to the KERS. Thus, Cowell will be the new chief engineer of the new engines of German frabricante from the beginning of 2013 F1 season.
