Red Bull set F1 demo with Coulthard at Santiago, capital of Chile

(Red Bull Press) The precise geometry of Plaza Italia of central Santiago is the perfect venue for Red Bull Racing’s showcar team to show off the RB7 this weekend. David Coulthard will be at the wheel of the RB7, putting it through its paces with a series of burnouts, donuts and the other ingredients of a showcar outing, which generally fall under the mission heading: ‘create lots of noise, make people happy.’

The event starts at 3pm on Sunday November 11th, the course that’s been laid out covers about 900m, as usual it’s free to attend and there’s plenty of space for the huge crowd that’s expected.

“I’m really excited about this one,” says DC. “ We always have a great time in South America wherever we are but there’s something a little bit special about going to the far side of the Andes – a real sense of adventure. There’s a vibrant motorsports culture in Chile but maybe not too many opportunities to experience an F1 car up close and personal, so we’ll be sure to get out the really big performance!”

The showcar crew has been busy in recent months, running in Warsaw, Seoul and beneath the Hudson River, crossing between New Jersey and New York. Additionally, it’s been on duty with the World Series by Renault, where World Champions Alain Prost and Damon Hill have both graced us with their heavy right boots.

After his detour to Chile, DC will be swapping the helmet for his commentators’ microphone and heading up to Texas for the US Grand Prix at the brand new Circuit of the Americas. But before then, we’ll be posting updates and pictures from Santiago in all the usual places.
