McLaren is competitive, we need more improvement – Vettel

Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber set best lap-time behind the both McLaren’s guy in the morning session of the 2012 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix free practice.

But the Championship leader Sebastian Vettel back to the top and he set fastest lap-time ahead of McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton and his team-mate Jenson Button. Defending world champion improved well with soft compound in the second session of the evening practice.

“I think we can be happy with today. Overall we got a good lap on the soft tyres, but in general pace the McLaren’s were quick and seem competitive, so they’re the ones we need to look out for and beat. Vettel said.

He added “We need to improve the car overnight to qualify as high as we can tomorrow.”

In first free practice session the Australian posted fifth fastest behind the Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso. The evening session he was too struggled with KERS problem, and his car’s floor massively touch with track. The final session he was not contest following this issue.

“We had a KERS issue, which wasn’t the same as last week. It never helps to miss some running on the track during practice, but it’s not a big deal. The track will move around a little bit from where it is now, but not a huge amount; it’s in pretty good shape straightaway. We’ll get it fixed tonight and come back tomorrow.” Webber said
