Montezemolo rejects reports that Vettel move to Ferrari in 2014

Instant response, Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo rules out the reports that Sebastian Vettel move to Ferrari in 2014 F1 season as Fernando Alonso team-mate role.

He says that Ferrari won’t two roosters in the hen house; Alonso had allowed the move following previously ruling out pairing up with Lewis Hamilton, who will move from McLaren to Mercedes next season, according to unnamed sources at Ferrari quoted by the BBC on its website.

The reports that Ferrari President was speaking among reports that Vettel was set to join Ferrari in 2014 with any move reliant on the team’s results next season.

“I do not want two roosters in the hen house,” Montezemolo told Italian media.

“I want two drivers who race for Ferrari and not for themselves. I want a friendly rivalry like we have had with Schumacher and Irvine, Schumacher and Barrichello, Alonso and Massa or Massa and Schumacher.

“Two roosters in the hen house I do not like and it only creates an imbalance and tension. Harmony in a team is the most important thing and even more so in difficult times when all you need to do is recover.”

“There is no doubt that, mid-season, it would have been unthinkable of reconfirming Massa,” he admits. “But now he is giving us what we expect, so we will talk tomorrow and make a decision. He went very well in Monza and Japan, as well as Korea, and has found a new lease of life.”
