His team-mate Mark Webber took second fastest ahead of championship leader Fernando Alonso. Webber originally had the edge, taking first place back with a 1m38.864s
McLaren’s Jenson Button set fourth fastest lap-time, and his team-mate Lewis Hamilton eighth fastest he struggled with a major lock-up into Turn 1 on one of his final run.
Michael Schumacher set fifth fastest and his team-mate Nico Rosberg done seventh quickest behind the Ferrari’s Felipe Massa.
Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg set ninth fastest ahead of Lotus’s Kimi Raikkonen. Romain Grosjean was only 11th in the second Lotus.
Williams’s Bruno Senna took 12th fastest ahead of Force India’s di Resta and Sauber duo Kmaui Kobayashi and Sergio Perez.
