Extended DRS Zone for 2012 Formula 1 Korean GP

FIA decided to extend the DRS (Drag Reduction System or Rear Wing Activation) Zone for 2012 Formula One Korean Grand Prix.

Following reducing the DRS distance last weekend for the Japanese Grand Prix this year, Formula 1 governing body FIA has said that the DRS zone has been extended by 80m. This according to a report published in Sky Sports on Wednesday.

The DRS detection point will still be placed right before Turn 1, with the activation point 516 meters after Turn 2.

Korea was among the most terrible tracks for overtaking last season, with just 29 overtaking completed – just over half of the season normal.
