F1 team have dumped additional mid-season test in 2013 season, following agreeing plans for just three pre-season tests 2013 Formula One. Hints it will be a part of a cost-saving package and agreed between the teams
2013 F1 pre-season first four-day test set at Jerez in Spain on February 5. According to the Melbourne organiser – Australia is conditionally listed to host the 2013 season opening Grand Prix on March 17.
The teams are therefore already setting dates for the 12 days of pre-season winter testing, which will be divided into three four-day tests.
The German Auto Motor und Sport revealed that teams will move from Jerez to Barcelona in mid-February and the first will run from February 19-22, while the second will take place from February 28 to March 3.
This year, as well as the three pre-season tests, teams also had the opportunity for a mid-season test, which took place at Mugello after the first flyaway races.
“There is a contingency plan,” said McLaren team boss Martin Whitmarsh, “in the event that we race in Melbourne on 10 March.”
