Ferrari F1 team Principal Stefano Domenicali still believes that Felipe Massa can do better job for Ferrari and he come-back strongly in this season.
After the first 10 races of this season, the Brazilian scored just 23 points but his team-mate Fernando Alonso earned 154 points and led drivers’ title. Massa’s best result was fourth place in British GP and now in 14th in drivers’ championship behind the Force India driver Pau di Resta.
He was also struggled in Last Grand Prix at Germany and made another pointless finish following losing his front wing on the first lap. But rumor still closest in paddock that the Brazilian will be replaced for 2013 season.
“We saw, for example, in Silverstone that in terms of race pace and qualifying he was much closer to Fernando,” Domenicali said.
“We need to believe that Felipe can do the right job for the team and that’s why we always said there’s no pressure in that respect. We want for him to realise that he is part of us and we will protect him in all conditions. I’m sure that he will give back what the team is giving to him.”
“For sure he [Alonso] needs me,” Massa said. “In a competitive championship like this it’s very important to have both cars scoring points and that’s the only thing I’m looking for.”
