Finland’s Turun Sanomat, reports that Heikki Kovalainen is “particularly high” on team owner Peter Sauber’s list of contender for next year race seat.
Caterham F1’s speedy Heikki Kovalainen could be off to Sauber 2013 season, lift to replace the under-pressure Japanese speedy Kamui Kobayashi.
The Finnish news paper says that Sauber are believed to be dissatisfied with Kamui Kobayashi, who they feel should be running near the front of the pack particularly in light of their C31’s remarkable pace.
Kobayashi made his best result this season was the P5 in Spanish Grand Prix. But his team-mate rookie Sergio Perez already has two podium finishes.
The Finn, the former Renault and McLaren driver has already made it clear that he’s ready to leave Caterham to move back up the order.
“Personally, my goal is to return to the top positions on the grid but I don’t know where,” said the 30-year-old. “I haven’t talked to anyone.”
