The Sauber F1 duo not entered in Qualifying Q3 due to team decides in Q2 run with intermediate compound. After a long break in Q2 due to heavy rain, in second session of Q2, the Sauber was only team run with intermediate tyre in too wet condition. The consequences was both drivers were knocked out the session.

“We started on intermediate tyres after the break and this proved to be the wrong decision,” said Kobayashi. “I pitted and changed to rain tyres, but then I only had time for one flying lap and in the difficult conditions this wasn’t enough to improve.”

The Mexican Segio Pérez said much of the same but also talk about the very bad visibility when being caught in traffic.

“I was driving behind Daniel Ricciardo and could hardly see anything,” said the Mexican. “It is such a shame because we clearly had the pace to fight for a top position here.”

Kobayashi will start 12th on the grid tomorrow and his team-mate Sergio Pérez will line up 17th.
