Lewis Hamilton says Alonso is the best driver and he is main title contender of 2012 F1 season. Fernando Alonso set another podium finish in Monaco GP ahead of Lewis Hamilton. The Spaniard starts form the fifth on the grid finished third position.

Currently Alonso is the individual leader in the Drivers’ Championship three-point ahead of Sebastian Vettel and Monaco winner Mark Webber.

“He is the dark horse and he’s driving for the dark horse,” Hamilton told The Telegraph. I’m not surprised.

“He is a two-time World Champion and probably the best driver here.”

At the same time as Alonso’s personal praise of the Lewis Hamilton, who he believes is the favorite to take this year’s championship.

“We are looking to November and it is Hamilton we want to be close to,” Alonso told the BBC.

“It is impossible to predict how the season will evolve, but I would hardly believe it will stay like this.

“Still, if I can tip one driver, I would pick him because he’s the only one who can make a difference even with a car that is not a winner.”
