FIA has confirmed a single DRS zone for Chinese GP at Shanghai International Circuit, its will allowing more overtaking chance the tight right-handed hairpin of Turn 14.
The DRS detection point is placed in the middle of Turn 12 and Turn 13, after the curve drivers can ‘open’ their rear-wing half way down the back straight with the detection area then coming on the straight and 752 metres before Turn 14, one of the longest on the calendar. DRS activation zone has been shortened in length by around 50m after the analysis of 2011 grand prix.
In 2012 DRS more helped in Chinese GP, Red Bull’s Mark Webber was able to rise from a poor 18th place grid position to a podium finish, passing Jenson Button in the closing stages.
