McLaren target to win both World Championships in 2012

Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team Principal Martin Whitmarsh says that McLaren target to wins both world championships in this season and he added its tough targets are wins two World Championships. He says in Wednesday morning event as the team launch its new MP4-27 at the Woking Technology Centre.

“I’m sure it’s no surprise to everyone here that our goal is to win two World Championships this year,” he said. “That is our goal every year and we don’t always succeed. We don’t like losing and coming second the last two years has had its frustrations (laughs). We’re proud of some great moments in those years but we want to win World Championship.

“We have set some tough targets to win the World Championship. We haven’t reached those targets yet, but fortunately at the moment we’re not at the first race! Every fortnight we have performance radar to see where we are – we’re off the radar screen at the moment and that’s exciting.

“We have set targets which we think are tough but I’m sure we will get there. You have to improve the car for every single race throughout the championship to sustain a good campaign these days. As long as we have a good start to the year, I’m sure we’ll be in there again.”
