Lotus team revealed their new F1 cars name as E20, Previous Renault GP F1 team renamed Lotus this season.
In 2011 Renault GP car was called R31; Lotus team has decided to honour the factory staff by naming the new car E20 – ‘E’ for Enstone.
E ’20’ is an indication to the fact the new single seater is the 20th made at Enstone since the then Benetton team relocated in 1992. Lotus E20 will be revealed on February 5, the day before Kimi Raikkonen debuts it at Jerez on the eve of the opening 2012 group test.
The statement comes one day after the E20, which continues to use Renault engines, was fired up for the first time. Also on Friday, the team’s 2012 drivers, Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean, were on hand at Enstone and both took the opportunity to get comfortable in the car’s cockpit.
