Sutil will stand trial in a German court later this month

Adrian Sutil will stand trial in a German court later this month following officially being charged grievous bodily harm against Genii Capital CEO Eric Lux.

The charge relates to an incident in a Shanghai nightclub following last year’s Chinese Grand Prix.

Sutil was out celebrating Lewis Hamilton’s Chinese GP victory at the M1NT club in Shanghai when the incident happened. Sutil reportedly stabbed Lux in the neck with a glass with the latter requiring 24 stitches. According to German newspaper FAZ, the doctor who performed the procedure told the businessman that the severe cut was just millimetres away from an important facial nerve.

Sutil subsequently apologised, saying the injury was completely unintentional as he was trying to pour his drink over Lux’s head, however, the Munich Court has opted to go ahead with proceedings.

Sutil will face the courts later this month and could be sentenced to a year in prison if found guilty.
