Two independent DRS zones for Abu Dhabi GP – Yas Marina

One more times two independent DRS zones (Drag Reduction System) in 2011 F1, last race at India GP two separate DRS zones used and this weekend at the Abu Dhabi GP will also race the same DRS method.

First DRS zone will be located on the longest straight on the track between Turn 7 and Turn 8. DRS Detection point start from entry of the Turn 7 and activation point start from middle of the longest straight.

Second DRS zone placed between Turn 9 and Turn 10. The detection point start from turn T9 and the activation point start after minor turn T10.

The latest DRS updates published by Pastor Maldonado’s race engineer at Williams, Xevi Pujolar, revealed on his Twitter account.

Drivers hope DRS zone will play with more action in Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, McLaren’s Jenson Button recently said: “It’s usually been quite difficult to overtake in Abu Dhabi, especially last year, but I think that DRS will change all that. It would be great to see the new rules turn this circuit into a place where overtaking is more common and more exciting.”
